1996 Pontiac Firebird Convertible Test Drive

Any way you looked at it, 1996 was a great year for muscle car fans, especially with a pair of new V-8s in the Mustang and powertrain enhancements to the Camaro. Poniac’s Firebird shared in the Chevrolet improvements; It’s upgraded to a standard 200*horsepower 3800 V-6, and an optional 5.7-liter LT-1 V-8 cranked the dyno needle over to 285 horsepower.  But Pontia did the Bow-tie Boys one better with an exclusive WS6 option you couldn’t get anywhere else.  Check that little box when you order a Formula or Tran sAm coupe, adn you’d sign on for a screaming 305-horsepower Ram Air V-8, along with bodacious chassis, wheel, and tire improvements.
