A second energy crisis and rampant price hikes helped squash sales, as production dropped by nearly half. The second generations dozen year run will end in the following year for 1981, with sales skidding even further. Starting prices as high as $6132 didn’t help, especially when accessories could easily add a couple of thousand more. The energy crisis also led Pontiac to compare its once fables pony car offering to imports bearing far lesser engine offerings, some with different wheel drive to boot!

Yeah….you can tell performance wasn’t in the forefront anymore by them opening the video by pimping the “economy” of their wheezing V6’s! Kind of a sad end to this era of F-body.
