1997 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS Test Drive
As the Montero moved inexorably upmarket, a brand new addition to the lineup called the Montero Sport once again gave Mitsubishi a mainstream sport utility. Based on the departed Mighty Max pickup platform, the Montero Sport was lower, lighter, and shorter overall than the regular Montero. Available only as a four-door, the Sport came in rear-and four-wheel drive, with four cylinder and V-6 powertrains.
