From the graceful sweep of the Continental’s freshened bodywork to subtle details like the genuine bird’s eye maple that accents the new interior, the 1998 Continental was truly transformed. And these changes were more than just skin deep. In answer to requests for a simpler, plusher riding standard model, fixed rate gas pressurized shocks were fitted all around along with softer springing. The high tech Drier Select System was optional for those who wanted more variability. Throughout , extensive measures were taken to make the already quiet Continental even more eerily silent. The 4.6 Liter V8’s peak remained a solid 260 horses, but bottom end response was boosted.
