The Malibu design was supposed to knock the socks off potential Camry and Accord buyers, nothing less. Compared to the Lumina, it’s like day and night! This practical down to earth sedan was modern and richly equipped. The name may not have been new, but it had nothing in common with the former Malibu of old, nor with the Corsica that it replaced, for that matter. The Malibu’s arrival on the car market scene launched a new GM era that was characterized b more up to date products geared to beat the pants off the Asian competition.
