2000 Mercedes Benz SLK320 Test Drive
Intended to take on BMW’s Z3, the SLK was incompetent and its sales stood at about the halfway point compared to its arch rival. In large part this explained its lack of sporty capabilities, regardless of its remarkable performance levels. In North America, even supercharged 4-cylinder engines didn’t make the ultimate grade and a 3.2L V6 should have made the SLK more attractive.
