The heart of this Honda was an entirely new gasoline-electric drive system called IMS (integrated motor assist). It offered simplicity, light weight and transparent operation. The only change Insight drivers would have to make in their driving style was how often they stopped for fuel. The insight could go more than 600 miles on a single 10.6-gallon tank of gasoline.
