“When it comes to cars” says the Mitsubishi rap, “there’s no reason that sporty and fun to drive have to be synonymous with expensive and hard to get.” That’s the sort of press-release nonsense that skeptical eyes pay as much attention to as, regrettably, the fine print of our credit-card agreements. Just a handful of inexpensive cars fell under the umbrella of that statement. Cars such as the Ford Focus, Mazda Protege, Nissan Sentra SE and Dodge Neon delivered a refreshingly fun driving experience for about 15 grand.
