2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Test Drive
All-new, stunningly sleek, and much lighter on its feet, the new SL debuted spring of 2002, with a fast acting retractable aluminum roof and a 5.0L/302HP V8. New interior styling complemented the exterior, and new dazzling technology, including Active Body Control, for virtually lean free cornering, and Sensotronic “Brake by wire” which eliminated the hydraulic link between foot and brake pads. Also available was the SL55 AMG, supercharged and intercooled for 493-hp and 0-60 mph in just 4.5 sec. AMG also retuned the active suspension while they were at it.
