2005 Pontiac G6 Test Drive

Pontiac continued its new-product assault with the midsize G6 sedan. Sharing GM’s Epsilon platform with the Chevrolet Malibu (and the eventual Saturn Aura), the all-new G6 sported a sleek, wedge-shaped profile. Base and GT models received a new 200-horsepower, 3.5-liter OHV V-6 mated to a four-speed automatic with manual-shift mode on GTs. Fully independent suspension, variable-assist electric power steering, and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes were standard. A panoramic roof with four sliding glass panels, power pedals, curtain airbags, and XM Satellite Radio were optional. A coupe and convertible were next in 2006.
