2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Test Drive
The big news for Corvette fans in 2006 was the Z06 coupe with its 7.0-liter LS7 engine producing 505 horses, enough to propel the car to 60 mph in under four seconds. Suspension and aerodynamic mods enable the car to handle this power, and it looked more aggressive with wider fenders for 12-inch wide rear tires. It was also slightly lighter, due to its all aluminum space frame construction. Availability of a new six-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission was the only change on regular Corvettes. The Z06 delivered supercar performance for a lot less money than any comparable car.
