Buick’s Somerset Regal was renamed Skylark when four-door versions bowed for 1988.
The Skylark Custom and Limited coupes and sedans had attractive lines which employed flush-fitting headlights for an even smoother appearance. Analog gauges replaced the silly digital cluster, now optional. The 2.5-liter and the optional 3.3-liter V6 were joined by the potent 2.3-liter Quad 4 engine. The 150-horsepower twin-cam engine was delightful, but obviously hobbled by the 3-speed automatic transmission. Don’t forget the retro-look dealer installed vinyl top.
