The Skylark was a completely new player for 1992. And the unbridled enthusiasm that went into its design was obvious from every angle. Buick general manager Edward mertz said of the skylark, “we wanted cars with real personality, with the look people haven’t seen before.” from that perspective, Buick certainly succeeded. The Skylark’s daring styling blended sweeping, provocative lines with a protruding vertical-bar grille inspired by the classic 1939 Buick.

It’s a treatment that seemed to generate strong emotion on both sides. Adding to the effects on the top of the line Gran Sport version was a 2-tone paint treatment that accented its striking exterior.

The Skylark’s interior also reflected this thoroughly modern focus. A curvaceous instrument panel peeled off into thin trim lines that flow from the dash on to the doors. The control array wrapped in slightly towards the driver for a sporty cockpit effect. And the glove Box and center console were further indications that straight edges were banned from the skylark design program.
