01999 Chevrolet Tracker Convertible Test Drive
SUV buyers shopping at the lower end of the market had something to get excited about: the newly re-engineered Chevrolet Tracker. Along with its sibling from Suzuki (called the Vitara), this Canadian-built machine had new styling, features, adn capability. Where once there was a single engine, the Tracker now offered the choice of two powerplants: The starting point was a humble 1.6-liter/97-horsepower SOHC inline four, but should you crave more, try out the 2.0-liter/127-horsepower DOHC inline four. Available as a four-door, or a two-door convertible in rear- or four-wheel drive, the new Tracker boasted improvements to just about every aspect of performance.
