It was a showstopper, and the auto show was the only place you could see Peugeot’s Quasar concept car. The Quasar, was designed at Peugeot’s own styling center, not done in a studio across the Italian border. The two-seat Quasar’s gull-wing-like doors lifted and pivoted forward. Under the dome-like canopy was a one-piece dash that cantilevered off the center tunnel and included a center screen for displaying navigation and system checks. The rear engine, a twin-turbo, DOHC, 16-valve four drove all four wheels with 600 hp on tap. The Quasar was Peugeot’s first show car ever.
