The Plymouth Laser was Chrysler’s latest sports coupe, for 1989. It was, in fact, a joint effort between Chrysler and its Japanese partner, Mitsubishi.  The latter manufactured the car at the Diamond Star factory in Normal, Illinois, at a rate of 240,000 units. Mitsubishi would also sell it through its own dealer network under the name Eclipse, as a replacement for for the Cordia and Tredia.  This 2+2 coupe competed with the Ford Probe, Mazda MX6, Toyota Celica, Honda Prelude, and Nissan 240SX. Its highly shaped body had a Cx of 0.33 and could be equipped with a varying amount of engine/transmission options.
