41981 Chevrolet Citation vs Ford Fairmont Comparison Test Drive
While the Citation was designed to do exactly what the Ford Fairmont was designed to do as far as family transportation, it was a completely different animal. Of the two, it was the newest, with the highest content of the latest technology. When the Citation debuted, there was only a 15 day supply, and was the hottest selling combination 4-cylinder automatic, 4-door hatchback on the market.
The Fairmont used a conventional drivetrain layout, with the engine in front, driving the wheels in the rear, following the European intermediate and ‘Big’ car philosophy. While the front drive cars appeared to have more usable interior passenger space, the Fairmont had as much rear leg room as the Citation.
I remember both cars. Although I’m not a Ford car guy, I remember liking the Ford Fairmont and Mercury Zephyr over General Motors’ front wheel drive cars of the time.
I remember the Fairmont, mostly from the movie E.T.!
I remember that movie. I don’t remember seeing the car in the movie. I’ll have to check it out.
I ask for one movie a year for christmas. That was last years movie, E.T. I think Netflix will cease this tradition
