2.0 liter engine only powerplant offered: 4-speed manual gearbox standard with 3-speed automatic of 5-speed stick extra cost option. Cadet and CL models eliminated. New lineup included 2- and 4-door sedans and 4-door wagon offered in both base and CS versions, CS hatchback, and midyear CL convertible. CL trim package optional on CS models. Limited availability fuel economy 2-door sedan offered with 5-speed. Redesigned spring, strut and transmission mounts fitted to reduce vibration and idle shake. CL convertible, available in January 1983, will offered F41 suspension , power steering, power windows, and power top as standard equipment

line included 5 models: 2-door coupe, 2-door hatchback, 4-door hatchback, X-11 coupe and X-11 2-door hatchback, 2.5 liter inline four standard, 112hp V-6 optional on all but the X-11. Standard on X-11’s and optional on all citations was the 135hb HO V-6. 4-speed overdrive manual standard with all engines; 3-speed THM 125C optional with all powerplants. X-11 package content revised to keep price down, no compromise has been made to vehicle performance or handling. New Camaro style rally wheels available on all but X-11 models Citation X-S sports exterior package offered on 2-door hatch. Included rally wheels, body colored bumpers and gradient tone side graphics.

Celebrity
Offered in 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan models for 1983. Base engine was the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder with a 2.8 liter gasoline and 4.3 liter diesel V-6s optional.. Automatic 3-speed only transmission offered, to be superseded by THM 440C 4-speed automatic overdrive transaxle later in the model year. Electronic tuning radios replace manually tuned radios as standard equipment. Radio 8-track tape player combination discontinued.

Chevette
For 1983 six models comprised the line, hatchback coupe and sedan, both offered as separate diesel models and 2- and 4-door version of the price leader Chevette Scooter. Gas propelled Chevettes were fitted with a 1.6 liter OHC 4 and a 4-speed manual gearbox. GM’s THM180c was optional, as was a 5-speed stick. Diesel models available only with 5-speed or automatic gearboxes. Chevette S sports appearance option added. Package included black finished bumpers from Scoooter, black and red trimmed grille, red accented body side moldings, red graphic identification, and sport wheels. S package offered in conjunction with five colors. All Chevettes featured revised front styling with larger front air dam, black window moldings and door handles. All models except scooter fitted with body colored bumpers and end caps.
