   As nostalgic as I am about these commercials – my parents had a 1985 Delta 88 – and I loved that car from the time it was new (I was about 12 at the time).
   I however was totally blown out of the water when my best friend’s mother drove me home in what must’ve been a 1985 Mercedes 300E apparently one of the first to be imported to the USA. It’s like my reality of a car changed completely – it was unlike anything I’d ever been in before – my family’s other car was an F-150, and I remember the Delta 88 seemed a world away from that truck. In the 300E I felt like I had entered a universe 3 light years away from either car.

   Oldsmobile was on fire in the mid 1980s. It’s sad how quickly things went down hill for the brand in the 1990s.
