1986: Merkur III
The Ford Motor Company was planning to bring over its new European Sierra notchback for introduction to the States. The aero-sedan would be the third member of the Merkur family, following the arrival of the Scorpio five door hatch for 1987. Ford refused to confirm the rumor, but with a wink and a nudge.
