1988: The Volkswagen that wasn’t
Volkswagen took the opportunity of the Geneva Show to unveil its new Passat lineup. Next to the Golf hatchback, the Passat sedan and wagon would be the most important models to VW’s balance sheet. But there was another Passat variant that VW strangely chose not to reveal. The hatchback. It seemed logical that this model would have been produced. The car was built, tested and was shown to favorable reaction, to confidential customer clinics.
