1989 Gale Bank Turbo Diesel GMC Suburban
A decade and change ago, before diesels were known for their initial OEM strength, they were distinguished for their fuel savings. One company, Gale Banks solved what was unknown in the 1980s, and became best known for advancing development of the [turbocharger] and ultra high performance diesel engines for racing and street purposes by promoting them for power and fuel efficiency. In 1988, Banks turbocharger systems become a GM dealer-specified option. Today, we are all aware of the benefits of Diesels, Turbocharging, and even more so them together. But innovation and technology have to start somewhere, and with someone. Gale Banks is/was a pioneer in this aftermarket upgrade, have a look back near the beginning!
