1993 Honda Prelude VTEC Test Drive
At the unveiling of this generation prelude, Honda found out how dangerous it is to change the appearance or philosophy of a car. Two years after its introduction, the style gives rise to more positive comments than the dashboard. It had not yet returned to the popularity level of the previous model. The difficult times affecting the global auto industry had something to do with it, but perhaps there was also communication problems between the maker and the rest of the world. The Prelude offered an excellent compromise between comfort and pleasure, perhaps it did not need one, due to its specialty VTEC, high output four’s, but a V6 would have made a nice addition to the line, and could have made it best in category!

What happened to Honda and Acura? They used to have some cool stuff… Now it’s just hoe-hum… You have to look at Kia and Hyundai for some good looking well powered vehicles.
I agree, but I bring another perspective. The classic Honda mantra, lightweight, sharp handling, innovative engine tech, and simple timeless attractive styling was not only tarnished by their current model lineup, but also the late nineties early 2K’s youth market, that has stripped the marketplace for unblemmished, untouched examples, for us that want a used, everyday economy runabout, that is easy to run, maintain, and repair. too bad.
I disagree that this car needed a V-6. The V-TEC four was potent enough, but a V-6 would’ve made the car to front-heavy. The Acura TSX suffered from this, where the v-6 made it quicker but not more fun-to-drive compared to the 4-cylinder.
