1999 Mitusbishi SSU Concept
Mitsubishi said its aggressively styled SSU was a one off “super sports utility” that attempted to impart the character of a five passenger rally car into an unconventional street machine. Created by a team at the Mitsubishi Motors R&D Design Studio in Cypress, California, the SSU’s bold bodywork was wrapped around running gear from a 3000GT VR-4. Its 310 horse twin turbo V6 was linked to a five speed automatic transmission and the car’s sophisticated AWD system also incorporated Mitsu’s Active Yaw Control system from the Lancer V rally machine.
