1999 Jeep Commander Concept Car
Sophisticated and upscale, the Commander was about the same height as a Grand Cherokee but nearly 8 inches wider. That extra girth permitted a massive center storage console up front and three across bucket seats in the rear. Less obvious was its exotic experimental methanol fed fuel cell drive train that converted the chemical energy in the liquid methanol into electricity, which was then fed from a nickel-metal-hydride battery pack to two powerful EPIC minivan motors. Each motor drove an axle for full time four wheel drive traction.
