1987 Volkswagen Fox Commercials

A Brazilian import, the Volkswagen Fox hit the U.S. shores for the first time in 1987.  Looking like an elongated Rabbit, the Fox came as either a base two-door sedan and four-door GL sedan or the unusual two-door wagon. The 1987  Fox was definitely not a speedster, nor was it particularly attractive, but it was an affordable, practical car with plenty of room for passengers, and good storage space with the wagon.

What did the VW Fox say? Not much, as mentioned in the description above. Assembled in Brazil, it entered North America as a 1988 model. The 1991 face lift made the Fox a little more contemporary. There was never an automatic trans-axle offered, but at least air conditioning was an option. The Fox departed after 1993.

I bought a 1988 VW Fox sedan new in 1988. It was white, and had a 4 speed manual. Great little car. I paid right around $11,000 out the door for it.

I owned this exact model in the early 90’s. I remember being the only car riding along with snow mobiles in the blizzard of ‘96 on the roads. Awesome little vehicle and a like a micro tank in the snow!
