It was early 1991, and in about six months, Honda would introduce a new Prelude. Said to be conservatively styled, the car would continue to be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The top-of-the-line model, however, was rumored to get a ‘variable-nozzle’ turbocharger and Honda’s VTEC system, a combination said to be good for a 230-hp wallop delivered through all four wheels. Also grapevined, was a ‘long nose’ version sufficiently spacious enough to host a V-6.
